Chocolate Cakes

In my first post at My Orange Chair I asked the question, "Why am I making so many Chocolate Cakes??"

Obviously it's because they're awesome and they make everyone feel good. Here is my recipe for yummy fudgy salty brownies that will make anyone's day better, unless you don't like deserts, and then I don't know what to tell you.

As an additional bonus, this recipe takes lots of time so you can feel more productive during your day! I adapted this recipe from Anne Thornton.

You're going to need -

1 1/2 sticks butter - 1 stick unsalted, 1/2 stick salted
3/4 c. natural cocoa powder
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. sea salt (this depends on how salty you like your brownies)
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2/3 c. all-purp. flour

Extra:
1 1/2 c. semisweet chocolate bar/chips/whatever that you cut up into small bits.

Now -

Preheat the oven to 325.

Melt the butter in a bowl over a pot of simmering water. Meanwhile, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Mix very well to reduce the clumps of powder. Add the mixture to the melted butter. Now you want to continue whisking until the sugar is completely or mostly (if you have less patience) dissolved.
Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the bowl from the simmering water and allow to cool for a few minutes. You don't want the mixture piping hot.
Add the vanilla and eggs (one at a time) to the fudgy mixture. Blend completely.
Stir in the flower  flour, continue to mix the batter until your arm hurts.
This part is optional: Stir in the chocolate bits you cut up until fully incorporated. This makes the brownies more moist and waaay more chocolatey.

Pour the batter into a greased brownie pan. If you prefer, line the pan with aluminum foil to reduce clean up. Spread the batter evenly throughout the pan.

Bake for 20 minutes. Allow to cool (or don't if you like hotter brownies).

Yummmmm!!!
